In order to start getting all of this wood chopped and water carried, we were going to need some energy. We opened a much needed third wave coffee shop in the lo-hi neighborhood of Denver, Colorado in September of 2012 and reached sustainable profitability in less than one calendar year. Now, Rust and Varnish as well as our beloved residents of lo-hi and the surrounding neighborhoods have a beautiful community space in which we can all get our daily fix of cold- pressed juices, fresh baked pastries as well as quick and delicious breakfast and lunch options. Black Eye has been recognized in national press by the likes of Eater, Apartment Therapy, Food and Wine, Travel and Leisure Magazine. We were also honored by the award of Best New Coffee Shop in Denver by Westword Magazine.
